On-Site Diagnotics
Saves Time & Money
We know that you’re busy and we also know that convenience and timely service are important to you. That’s why we insist on having state-of-the-art diagnostic technology on-site, instead of sending you out to have these services performed elsewhere. It’s important to us that your diagnosis and treatment start on your first visit -- instead of making you have to wait days to find out what’s wrong and then start treatment. After all, that’s what we would want for ourselves, and it’s what we do for you!
Digital X-Ray
FDFAC has used digital x-ray since 2006, and was the first private podiatry office in the Bay Area to offer this technology. We continue to upgrade our digital x-ray system and features regularly, including the ability to view your x-ray images privately with your physician in your exam room on our mini-iPads. If you ever need hard copies of your x-rays images or if want your images provided on a CD, we can do that too – just ask.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
FDFAC has used ultrasound since 2009, and we have recently upgraded to a touch-screen portable wireless device that provides unsurpassed clarity of imaging. If you need an injection, ultrasound guidance guarantees accurate and precise needle placement. We routinely use ultrasound to diagnose and monitor the treatment of plantar fasciitis, neuroma, and other soft tissue cysts or swelling. Ultrasound also helps identify conditions that were previously only visible with MRI imaging, including Achilles tendon injuries, plantar fascial tears and the location of foreign bodies.
In-House MRI/CT Interpretations
FDFAC has the ability to connect remotely with our referring radiology facilities, in order to review and interpret MR and CT studies. This ensures that you have an accurate diagnosis and your treatment can start quickly. We never rely on a radiologist’s report to identify if there’s anything remarkable in your scans. Instead, our physicians have undergone significant additional training, so that they are able to interpret and evaluate your scans themselves.
Compartment Syndrome Testing
FDFAC is unique in being able to provide Compartment Syndrome Testing. Compartment Syndrome produces pain in one or both of your legs soon after you start exercising. The pain progressively worsens as long as you exercise, often forcing you to stop exercising. Typically, the pain subsides within 30 minutes after stopping the activity. Over time, however, the pain may begin to persist longer after exercise, possibly lingering for a day or two.
To diagnose compartment syndrome, specialized diagnostics are required. FDFAC uses the Stryker Intra-Compartmental Pressure Monitor System and at least a 6% grade on our treadmill running test to identify this condition. This allows physicians at FDFAC to quickly diagnose this syndrome without having to refer you to a hospital outpatient clinic.
If you have suffered an injury and require diagnostics to confirm diagnosis, FDFAC can help. Call for an appointment today, and request an evaluation using any of our in-office diagnostic treatments.
